All-Time High School Hoopers, Part 4: Dickson County Cougars

Marty Allison

The Dickson County Cougars are the featured team for this, the fourth and final installment, of some of the best high school basketball players down through the years.

Let's review the first three teams before moving on.

Creek Wood Girls: Rachel Bell, Sarah Collins, Caroline Edmondson, Taylor Fayette, and Ashley Franklin.
Creek Wood Boys: Ross Cummings, Vinny Dotson, Isaac Edmondson, Michael Morgan, and Chico Plunkett.
Dickson County Girls: LeaLea Carter, Malinda Evans, Jennifer Fambrough, Rochelle Vaughn, and Miranda Warfield.

The starting five for this Dickson County team features Reggie Law, JeQuan Lewis, Cory Pflieger, Michael "Ikey" Pollard, and JP Primm.

Lewis was a do-all guard as a Cougar and one of the fastest high school players I've ever seen with the ball in his hands. A super speedster that could pass, defend, score... Pflieger the sharp-shooter. Best pure shooter. No really, the best. Primm. What can be said? Smart, gritty, tactician. A coach on the floor. What I liked best was that he's a winner. When asked about hoopers, the first name I always hear is Law. Reggie Law. Dominant on the court. Not good. Not great. Dominant. Pollard is my sleeper. The more I asked, the more his legend grew. One local basketball fan summed it up like this. "Pollard might have been as dominant as Reggie if he had Reggie's size."

Dickson County has a rich tradition of basketball and I've had the privilege of watching some great players and teams over the last 20 years. I've also enjoyed hearing stories of some the greats that played before my time here.

Here's to hoping 2020 brings lots more great players and basketball moments to us, the fans.
