Another year has come and gone. Now what? More sports, that's what! See ya, 2019. Hello, 2020.

2019 gave us lots of highs and lows on the local sports scene. Reflecting on the year that was with several area coaches, here's a look at ten of the top teams in 2019. The Top Ten list for individual athletes will be coming out soon.

Let's start 2020 by looking back at the Top Ten local teams in 2019.

10. Dickson County Boys Basketball. As part of the 2019-2020 season, the Cougars finished the 2019 portion at 11-0 and just won the Sandestin Beach Blowout championship. Although the current season hasn't even reached the halfway mark, this team is playing solid ball. Hopefully that momentum will carry into 2020.

9. Dickson County Volleyball. Wrapped up the year by claiming a district title for the second straight year and won 24 matches.

T8. Dickson Futbol 01 Soccer. Finished a great season as the runner up in the state tournament.
T8 Dickson County Softball. The Lady Cougars got hot at the right time. The result. A 7th trip to the State Tourney.

7. Charlotte Baseball. Five straight conference tournament titles and six in the last eight years. Need I say more?

6. Creek Wood Football. The Red Hawks took us on a great ride this season, going into the second round of the state playoffs. Finished 9-3.

5. Creek Wood Bowling. For a relatively new program, this group continues to make waves around the state. The Lady Red Hawks have made deep runs at the State Tourney the past two seasons. The boys team is currently unbeaten in the regular season.

4. Creek Wood Girls Basketball. 24 wins. Regular season champs. District tourney runner up. Region Tourney champs.

3. Charlotte Basketball. The Lady Tigers have been solid for several years. Ended last season with a runner up finish at the state tourney and a 24-1 record. The Lady Tigers are currently 15-2 heading into 2020.

2. Dickson County Girls Basketball. This program has been on a great run. Finished last season as Region Tourney champs, District Tourney champs, and totaled 28 wins.

1. Creek Wood Softball. The Lady Red Hawks were expected to do big things in 2019 and this team delivered. This group finished third in the state tournament and a school-record 38 wins. The Lady Red Hawks have also qualified for the state tournament in four of the last five years. Can't wait for the 2020 season.
